There's so much I wanted to tell you.

But I grew up too fast after she left us.

Did you know about the garden where love grew?
The elm tree that pocketed our secrets deep within its bark?
Could you tell when I had my first kiss?
When I hid your keys just so you could spend the day with me?

You never laughed without her around.
I grew accustomed to closed doors.
Wrinkles creased your cheeks;
Scars of tears.

You stopped looking at me.
You said it hurt too much
To be reminded of her.

I wanted to tell you she wasn't coming back.
